#BringBackOurGirls Pre-assessment of Abaji IDP Camp

Today Saturday May 2, we went to Abaji in Abuja where Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from Borno, Adamawa and Yobe are settled; ahead of our planned visit.

Following our engagement, we found out what their pressing needs are, as well as the specific needs of the community. This will help in co-ordinating a much wider outreach we are planning, in terms of their over-the-counter medicines, food, clothing, housing, educational, sexual and mental health needs.
We also gave them some relief items which BBOG members have donated over the past 2 months. They were extremely grateful.
We met Deborah Jafaru’s father (father of one of our missing Chibok girls). He was happy to meet members. Also, the school nurse at FGC Buni Yadi, where terrorists killed 59 schoolboys in their school on 25 February last year. He was very happy when we told him about the one-year memorial we did for the boys this February 25. He was very touched that the boys were remembered. He spoke fondly of Biodun, a victim whose mother we spoke to on the phone live from Ibadan during the event.
We shall be communicating details of the visit to the IDP settlement with specifics of what is needed and how those interested can contribute in due course.
Thank you.
