Condolence, Support, and Encouragement for the Nigerian Army

20 April 2016
In the last three days, troops of the Nigerian army who are fighting terrorists in the northeast have come under attack and in a few instances recorded fatalities.
The #BringBackOurGirls movement wishes to express our heartfelt condolences to the military and families of the deceased. We mourn with them the loss of our gallant soldiers who paid the supreme price while seeking to keep our country secure.
The minor setbacks that our military has suffered in the last few days do not in any way diminish the strings of achievements recorded in the counterinsurgency effort in the last one year as we had stated in our press briefing marking two years since the abduction of our 219 ChibokGirls. We specifically applaud our military for the feat of reclaiming and reopening Damaturu-Biu federal road that was closed for three years; the return of some Internally Displaced People (IDP) back to their homes in Buni Yadi and the rescue of hundreds of citizens from previous terrorist occupied communities.
All of these have engendered public confidence in our military and we urge them to continue in the spirit of diligent prosecution of the war. We wholeheartedly support our troops at the battlefront as our movement has always done. Our thoughts and prayers are always with them in their worthy endeavor of securing Nigeria and Nigerians.
